Uclés Way

The Monastery of Uclés, the cradle of the Order of Santiago and the starting point of El Camino de Uclés, a Santiago’s route that in recent years has taken on a great importance, stands majestically in the small town of Uclés. From here, 794 kilometers separate the pilgrim from the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela through a differentiated signposting, the red Cross of Santiago and red arrow on a white background which combines, always in the opposite direction, with the official one of the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago, the yellow arrow and scallop on the blue frame.

From the same door of the monastery, it can already be seen, the first arrow of this road that connects with the temple of Santiago in the heart of Madrid through Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Arganda del Rey, Perales de Tajuña, Tielmes, Carabaña, Estremera, Barajas de Melo, and Morata, among other places.

On its way through Morata de Tajuña, the Way of Santiago shares the route with the Green Way of the Tajuña, so the route is ideal for those who want to do it on two wheels. A pilgrimage in the shade of the centuries-old olive trees of the Tajuña in which it is possible to visit, at most 200 metres away, different elements of the industrial past of the town, such as the lime trees or the Taray Island complex; the environmental heritage; and numerous remains of the Battle of Jarama.
